In April, we reported that Huawei was testing Android Oreo or at that time called the “Android O” on Huawei Mate 9. The screenshot at that time revealed the picture in picture mode feature on Android O.
Well, last month, Google announced the Android O or Oreo and yup it does come with the picture in picture mode. But what’s interesting is that Huawei Mate 9 has been spotted on Geekbench running on Android Oreo 8.0. If all goes well, we should soon see Android Oreo update for Mate 9 in the coming months.
Recently, OnePlus also released a beta build of Android Oreo for OnePlus 3 and there are rumors that Samsung is also testing Oreo for S8.

Huawei Mate 9 was released last year and next month we will see its successor in the form of Huawei Mate 10. The standard variant of Huawei Mate 10 may not come with Android Oreo preinstalled but Mate 10 Pro that will start shipping in December will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 6.0.
Android 8.0 Oreo brings features such as Notifications Visual Cleanup, Notification Badges, Instant Apps, autofill for apps, and picture-in-picture (PIP) mode.
