Motorola has been testing Android Oreo on the Moto Z for months now. The first soak test was reported back in December 2017 and a second rolled out in February 2018.

Apparently, the wait is over as we can now confirm that Moto Z users, at least in Brazil, can get their phones to Android Oreo via an OTA update. Note that this isn’t another soak test, rather, it’s the stable version of Oreo.

The currently rolling out Moto Z update installs software version OPL27.76-51 and besides coming with Android Oreo, it also installs the latest Android security patch for the month of March 2018. It’s also worth noting that despite the long wait, you still get Oreo 8.0 and not the newer 8.1.

Like any other OTA update, it’ll take time, perhaps days, before all Moto Z users in Brazil receive the notification to download the OTA. To skip the wait, try a manual update via the Settings menu, but make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and at least 50% battery juice.

As noted, the Oreo OTA is only available in Brazil, but other markets, including the U.S., Europe, and India, should join the party in the coming weeks, if not days.
