Since the turn of the year, we’ve heard a lot about LG flagship phones and the company’s smartphone business in general.
In early January, it was revealed that LG was planning to rebrand the G series, beginning with the LG G6 successor. At the time, it emerged that the device was undergoing development from scratch and that it would be called LG Icon. A few weeks later, just ahead of the MWC 2018, an event that was largely anticipated to host the G6 successor’s launch, details of LG Judy (codename) emerged, pointing to an alleged LG G7.
At the MWC 2018, LG surprised many by unveiling a new version of the V30 and baptized it LG V30S ThinQ, but in actual sense, this wasn’t a new phone by any means. It doesn’t bring any hardware changes, but it does include new AI camera features courtesy of ThinQ. Little did we know that the ThinQ branding is LG’s way forward until details of the LG G7 ThinQ emerged a while ago.
Now, it is emerging that not only will LG unveil the G7 ThinQ in the coming week(s), but the tech giant will also follow up the G6 successor with a half-proper V30 successor dubbed LG V35 ThinQ sooner than later.
Here’s everything you need to know about the LG V35 ThinQ specs, features, availability, and price.
LG V35 ThinQ specs and features
- 6-inch FullVision 18:9 QHD+ OLED display (no notch)
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor
- 6GB RAM and 64/128GB storage (expandable)
- Dual 16MP + 16MP main camera
- Android 8.1 Oreo
- Extras: 32-bit Hi-Fi QDAC, Super Bright camera mode, AI Cam, Google Lens, etc.
LG V35 ThinQ, as the name suggests, will reportedly take some notes from the current LG V30 as well as the upcoming LG G7 ThinQ, Android Headlines, which had exclusive access to the phone’s details, revealed.
There has been talk of a “premium glossy finish” that will add more style to the rather boring black and gray color variants expected. The edge-to-edge design is expected to make the V35 ThinQ a better device when it comes to one-handed use, but with a 6-inch panel, it’s unlikely to be the case.
What makes us feel good about the design of the LG V35 ThinQ is the alleged omission of the notch, which, sadly, will be part of the LG G7 ThinQ. Like the V30, though, we expect things like IP68 rating and even MIL-STD-810G certification, among other protective measures.

And then there’s the camera and all its ThinQ camera AI glory. As noted, we expect to see a similar camera to the G7 ThinQ, probably with a few tweaks here and there, but the AI camera features to be used should be the same all through. Furthermore, the first lens will support 10-bit HDR for better color capture while the second lens will take care of wide-angle shots of up to 107 degrees.
LG is also said to be including a super-sensitive Voice AI that will ensure the voice assistant is able to hear your commands even when as far as 17 feet away from your V35 ThinQ handset.
LG V35 ThinQ price and release date
LG V35 ThinQ is mostly a rumor, but looking at the track records of people behind the rumors, especially one Evan Blass, it’s easy to believe that the phone is almost here. In fact, Blass thinks that the V35 ThinQ will be unveiled around the same time as LG G7 ThinQ, which we know will launch on May 2, 2018.

Like its immediate predecessor, the V30S ThinQ, we don’t expect the LG V35 ThinQ to come on the cheap, rather, figures in the regions of $800 and $900 are more likely. And as you can see from the tweet above, the company is also lining up a new LG V40 ThinQ, which we’ve also covered extensively here.
