Xiaomi 2014 sales Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun earlier today revealed on his official Weibo account that the company sold 61.1 million smartphones in 2014 with a year-over-year growth of 227 percent. Xiaomi had sold 18.7 million phones in 2013.

Jun also stated that Xiaomi’s 2014 revenue was 74.3 billion yuan (approx. $12 billion), but did not comment on the profit. As per a recent filing from Xiaomi, it had posted a net profit of $56 million in 2013.

“2014 is a year of important milestones for Xiaomi: From chasing other players in the industry, we are now being pursued by others. Nearing the end of last year, we even found ourselves facing a patent lawsuit, which can be considered a rite of passage for a company that is coming of age,” stated Lei Jun.

While the last year was a very important year for the company, 2015 is going to play even bigger role as Xiaomi continues the international expansion and faces intense competition from other smartphone vendors.

Xiaomi CEO has also announced that the company will introduce its next flagship device on January 15, which is expected to be dubbed as Mi 5. Check out Xiaomi co-founder Bin Lin’s statement regarding 2015 plans below.Bin Lin statement
