Asus has unveiled its first Android 5.0-based Fonepad-series tablet. Dubbed as Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL), the tablet will initially be released in the company’s home market “Taiwan,” followed by other countries.
The Asus tablet features a 7-inch 1280x800p IPS display, 1.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom 3530 processor and 2GB of RAM. It also packs 8/ 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 4G LTE support and 3950 mAh battery.
In addition, Asus has included a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, and the usual set of connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in Fonepad 7.
According to Asus, the 16GB version of the new Fonepad 7 FE375CL will retail for NT$7,990 (US$252) in Taiwan. There is no word on the pricing in other markets at this point.
In related news, Asus is rumoured to be working on a ZenPad line-up of tablets, which will integrate the Fonepad and MeMoPad line-ups of the company.
