Google brings Android One to Philippines

Cherry One and MyPhone Uno Google has announced the launch of its Android One initiative in the Philippines today, making it the sixth country to get this affordable Android smartphone program.


According to Google, it has partnered with smartphone vendors Cherry Mobile and MyPhone in the country, which will be releasing the Cherry One and MyPhone Uno respectively as the first Android One smartphones for Filipino users.


Like the Android One phone introduced in Indonesia recently, the Cherry One and MyPhone Uno will also run on Android 5.1, which is the latest version of Android, and come with the same specifications that have been present in all Android One phones till date.


Google has also tied up with telecom operators Smart and Sun Cellular to provide free Android updates to the Android One users as well as 200MB worth of app downloads from Google Play each month for six months without any charge.


The Android One phones will go on sale in Philippines in the coming weeks and a price-tag around P5000.
