Motorola launches Moto E (2nd Gen) in India, goes on sale March 11

Moto E (2nd Gen) Lenovo-owned Motorola Mobility on Tuesday introduced the new Moto E (2nd Gen) smartphone in the Indian market at a press event in New Delhi. Like its previous devices, Motorola continues its partnership with e-retailer Flipkart, which will be the exclusive retailer for the new Moto E as well.


According to Motorola, the Moto E (2nd Gen) will retail for INR 6,999 in the country. The company is offering the dual-SIM 3G variant right now, which will go on sale beginning 12:01AM, March 11, 2015. The 4G version will be coming to India, but Motorola hasn’t given a specific time-frame.


The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch qHD (960x540p) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The phone also packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 2390 mAh battery. On the imaging front, Motorola has included 5MP f2.2 rear camera and a VGA front shooter in the phone.


Among other specifications, you will get Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS (A-GPS), Glonass, water-resistant nano-coating and 3G support. The Moto E (2nd Gen) runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with the company’s software enhancements like Moto Assist, Quick Flick, and more.


While the company offered the option to swap the back covers in the last-generation of Moto E, it is providing removable bands in this generation. Motorola states that the consumers can customize the new Moto E design to their liking by swapping the existing Black or White bands with any one of the six colourful bands being released by the company. It will also offer five colourful Motorola Grip Shells for the phone, which will add durability to the phone in addition to some playfulness.
