While Sony has announced the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to a slew of devices including the Xperia Z Ultra, the Android 5.1 update for the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition has begun to roll out.
Notably, the stock Android versions of the HTC One M8 and LG G Pad 8.3 have also received the update in the past few days.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop update rolling out to the Xperia Z Ultra Play Edition has the build number LMY47D. It adds a slew of bug fixes and enhancements to the smartphone and brings HD voice support and beefed up security features. The other aspects brought to the device include the management of paired Bluetooth devices directly from Quick Settings. Wi-Fi networks can also be added in the same way.
The firmware update will be rolled out in phases and people owning an Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition can check for the update manually as well.
