Days after the rollout of the context aware search in Chrome for Android, Google has launched the support for location awareness in voice search for Android. Google demoed this new feature at an event that was hosted in Paris on Tuesday. This location awareness feature in voice search is all set to go live across the world right now.

With this feature, Google’s voice search can answer questions such as “what is the phone number of this store” or “when does this store open”. The voice search will look for your location, search the nearby businesses, pick-up the nearest ones and provide the details.

If there are multiple stores in the locality and if Google does not have your precise location, it will list the nearby stores and ask you to choose one. The location awareness works when you are visiting a monument or any other tourist location and want to receive details about the place. In such a scenario, you can say Ok Google and ask questions such as “how tall is this” or “when was this built”.
