With the release of Android Oreo update by Google, all eyes are set towards release of one of the most anticipated custom ROMs out there that will be based on Android 8.0, the LineageOS 15. The LineageOS team is yet to acknowledge the LineageOS 15.0 as the official name of their ROM that will be based on Android 8.0, let alone announce its release and supported device list, but given the past naming scheme, we can be sure that is would be called LineageOS 15 only.
So, when is LineageOS 15 gonna release. What devices LineageOS 15 will support? When will it become available for download? Why you should install LineageOS 15 ROM (after all, you have a struggle here)? And why you should be bothered by LineageOS 15 ROM? Well, these are questions that we seek to answer in the sections to follow.
Gone are the days of CyanogenMod ROM — as the team collapsed, it pave the way for the LineageOS ROM, which continued the custom ROM tradition in all its glory, taking off right where CM14.1 left off with the starting of LineageOS 14.1 ROM. We won’t see a CM15 ROM this time around, as the CM project is totally dead, and LOS15 is what we’re gonna look forward to to satisfy our custom ROMs needs — and see the Android 8.0 running on a device that is no longer supported by the OEM.

We love to customize nifty little bits in the Android OS on our phones, but we have to pass through the cumbersome process of unlocking the bootloader, installing custom recovery, flashing ROM and Gapps, and such. But it’s worth it, right? After all, when you r device was abandoned by the OEM already, perhaps on Marshmallow or even Lollipop, if a custom ROM gets you a chance to play the Android 8.0 OS on it, why the hell would you not bow and take this opportunity.
And then there is a thing called customization. Hell lot of it. Exciting, adorable, and I-own-this-thing-ish.
Will my device get LineageOS 15 (LOS15) ROM?
There is no defined criteria about which devices would be up and running on the LOS15 ROM, and which won’t? The LineageOS 15 ROM availability will basically depend on whether the device’s drivers have been shared by the OEM or not, and if shared to what extent, and whether there is a developer interested in developing the ROM for the device.
But here’s a simple trick to know which Android devices will get LineageOS 15 ROM. To find whether you Android device smartphone will be supported by LOS15 ROM or not, just look for a LOS14.1 ROM for your device. If a LOS14.1 ROM is available, this means that development of LineageOS ROM is active on the device, and thus porting the Android 8.0 code is what remains to be done — which is not an easy task by all means, and may take due time.
Based on the above, we can be have our device list as shown in the below section.

LineageOS 15 ROM device list
Well, below is the expected list of devices on which we expect the LineageOS 15 ROM to release sooner or later.
Note: The device list below is not to be taken as a list of which LOS15 ROM is available, rather, these are devices on which we expected the ROM to become available soon.

Why should I install LineageOS 15 ROM?
Well, if you device is one for which OEM software support has vanished with time, like the Moto G3, which you have a fully functioning LineageOS 15 ROM available too, then really, why not? If you are getting to check out Android 8.0 in its glory, with stock Android UI as Google designed it for you which you do not get to see on your device because your OEM tweaked it, well, you are simply gonna love the LineageOS 15 ROM.
Actually, if you have a LineageOS 15 ROM available for your device, then unless it’s buggy — which some ROMs easily can be — you can give LineageOS 15 a try for sure.

Why I shouldn’t install LineageOS 15 ROM?
The major downside of installing the LineageOS 15 ROM is that you lose your device’s warranty. Because, a custom ROM requires TWRP recovery for its installation, and installing TWRP means breaking warranty.
Other than that, the ROM must be stable — otherwise, it’s just not worth the trouble, at least it can be your daily driver if it has issues with camera, GPS, etc. important stuff, which custom ROMs do have generally in their initial development period. And if there is a silent bug that causes reboots, then you can’t tolerate a ROM for long, be that LOS15 or any other ROM. However, you can wait out some time to let development continue and when ROM gets stable, with major features working, you can give it a try.

Well, in case Android 8.0 wasn’t enough, well, LineageOS 15 also gets you tremendous other cool features that make you drool for it. You get themes support, advanced tweaking features and other customization stuff that makes it worthy of the time and effort.
While, Android 8.0 features itself are a good enough of a reason. Here’s what you get with Oreo update, something that LineageOS 15.0 brings to the table for your device.
