Samsung to enter digital signature market with S-Pen

Looks like you will soon be able to use S-Pen for digital signatures on Samsung Galaxy Note devices. At a news conference held on Aug. 23 after the Note 8 unveiling event in New York, Samsung’s S-Pen development chief Chae Won-sik said that Samsung is planning to enter the digital signature market with S-Pen.

Samsung has been working with Wacom, its Japan-based stylus development partner for S-Pen since 2011. Now both are entering into the digital signature market.

Samsung has powerful authentication solutions such as Samsung Pay, Samsung Knox, iris and fingerprint sensor. When combined with S-Pen’s digital signature, a new market will be created.

Samsung, however, currently has no plans to bring S-Pen to other devices. So when the digital signature using S-Pen will be introduced, it will be available for Note devices only.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that was launched recently features 6.4 inch AMOLED infinity screen, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 processor and dual rear cameras.
