The amount of video content being consumed on the go has meant that most smartphones coming out this year have amped their focus on the quality of video recording these devices come with.
We saw Samsung debut with support for 960fps slow-mo video recording, but this was only limited to HD quality. Sony upped the game to 1080p and recently, we saw Huawei P20 Pro getting support for slow-mo video recording at 960fps, just like the Galaxy S9.
Given that it’s meant to compete with these handsets, the LG G7 ThinQ is not going to lag behind and in the latest update, the Korean company is also giving buyers of this phone a much-needed update that adds support for 4K video recording at 60fps. The G7 already supports 4H video recording, but only at 30fps and unlike other flagships, the best you can get is HD video recording at 240fps.
This update, which has so far started rolling out in Korea, also improves sharpness when shooting in auto mode, adds a super bright mode for improved shots captured with the LED flash on, as well as tweaks to improve rendering of red and green colors, among other improvements.
If you own an LG G7 handset, watch out for the update in the coming days or weeks for that matter. You can as well try forcing the download via Settings > About phone menu, but there’s no guarantee this path will yield the results you want.
It’s also worth noting that after the update is installed, you’ll want to enable the new mode via Camera > Settings > Video resolution and select “UHD 16:9 (60fps.”
