In April 2017, Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 came to life and as usual with Xiaomi devices, this one came with top of the line hardware but priced affordably. It’s past the expected release cycle and fans of the Mi Pad 3, which we reviewed and turned out to be a great slate, are obviously looking out for the tablet’s successor, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4.
Over the recent past, details of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 have been showing up from various sources on the internet. To cast away any doubts, Xiaomi has even confirmed that it will be launching the Mi Pad 4 on June 25 and to get you ready for this launch, we have put together all the details that have leaked so far in regards to the tablet, beginning with the specs.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 specs
- 7.9” 18:9 FHD+ LCD display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor
- 4GB or 6GB RAM
- 64GB or 128GB storage
- 13MP main camera
- 5MP front camera
- 6000mAh battery
- Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 10
- Extras: Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C, 3.5mm audio jack, Fast battery charging, AI facial recognition, etc.
With the popularity of tablets fading each passing day, there haven’t been a lot of rumors surrounding the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 tablet launch. Still, nothing in this tech space passes by unnoticed, hence the reason we have the list of specs above.
From the look of things, it seems the Mi Pad 4 will stick to the same screen size as its predecessor, but there’s an imminent change to the new 18:9 aspect ratio for the display. This could mean we end up with a more compact slate that houses the same display size, something that explains the slightly reduced battery capacity of 6000mAh compared to the 6600mAh unit used in the Mi Pad 3.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi Pad 4 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor that will be backed by “smart game acceleration” for improved gaming experiences. Speaking of smart, the device will also get a slice of the massive AI cake by shipping with an AI-driven Face Unlock feature, meaning it will be the first in the Mi Pad series to support facial recognition.

There’s also talk of a second variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, but like the standard model, there won’t be room to expand the storage. If all goes according to the rumor mills, we’ll also see an LTE variant of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4, but there’s no guarantee this will be the case. What, however, appears to be certain is the inclusion of a USB-C port alongside a 3.5mm audio jack – things that should be appreciated by those who end up buying this slate.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 price and availability
Speaking of buying, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is expected to see a global launch after June 25, which is when it will go official in China. Europe, India and other parts of Asia are high on the list of markets that will get a chance to buy the Mi Pad 4, but pricing details and the exact release dates in these markets are still unknown.
As per some leaks from China, the Mi Pad 4 will be priced at CNY 1,499 (about $230) for the base model of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while those eying the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option will have to part with an extra CNY 500, totaling to about $305.
It’s worth noting that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 launched in China priced at CNY 1,499 and while it would be a welcome idea for Xiaomi to retain this price tag, it’s unlikely this will be the case.
