Android 9 Pie started rolling out to the global (unlocked) Galaxy Note 9 in early January 2019 but so far, the only major carrier that has been quick to release the OS in North America is AT&T.

If you live further north, though, Android Pie is ready for your Galaxy Note 9 as multiple carriers in Canada are now rolling out the update. The OS is arriving as version N960WVLU1CSAA and started rolling out yesterday.

Interestingly, Rogers is among the carriers pushing the Pie update to the Note 9 despite a recent revision to its update schedule that pushed the date to February 11 while pegging the S9 Pie update to today. As it is, only the Note 9 has seen this update.

Other carriers also rolling out the Pie update in Canada include Freedom, Fido, Virgin, Koodo, Videotron, Bell, SaskTel, and so on. Unfortunately, there is still no mention of Telus, but we do believe an update is available on this carrier’s Note 9 too.

Android Pie is arriving as an OTA update, that’s why some Note 9 units will get the update ahead of others. OTA updates usually take anywhere between days and even weeks, so be patient. Besides, it is always wise to skip the initial release in order to monitor the performance of the new OS from early adopters before you can finally upgrade once you are sure that is all is well.

With the Note 9 now out of the way, it shouldn’t be long before Pie starts rolling out to the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in this region.
