Sony has one of the most confusing smartphone naming schemes but it appears things are about to get clearer and perhaps even more interesting depending on how you look at it.
With many fans expecting to see a new Xperia XZ4 flagship unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2019, notorious leaker Evan Blass claims Sony has other ideas. Apparently, the Japanese tech giant’s next flagship smartphone will be called Sony Xperia 1.
Besides providing details of what is to be the name of the next Sony flagship smartphone, Blass also posted an image of the said Xperia 1 smartphone and honestly, it looks like the company is onto a new chapter.

We’ve heard talks of a super tall 21:9 display aspect ratio, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor allied to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a massive 4400mAh battery unit and of course, Android Pie running the show out of the box. However, Blass further adds that the super tall display screen with be a 4K HDR OLED panel, which makes up for an interesting development.
Usually, the 4K OLED panels are reserved for the Premium variants of the flagship Xperia phones, but from the look of things, it appears that this tech is coming to the standard flagship.

Sony is expected to launch its next flagship smartphone at the upcoming MWC event on Feb 25 at 8.45 AM CET, which is when we expect to know more about this alleged Xperia 1 phone.
