Extensive details of Google’s midrange Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL emerge

After months of rumors about the Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL, finer details of the two midrange phones are now beginning to emerge as their launch draws closer.

Last month, a report by Nikkei revealed that Google was working on an affordable smartphone meant for the emerging market. While this report didn’t reveal the name of the device, it did corroborate previous rumors about the rumored Google Pixel 3 Lite device.

Soon after, devices alleged to be the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL received FCC certification, prompting more suggestions that their launch was fast approaching. Fast forward to today, and 9to5Google has bumped into even more details about the duo, including their specs.

According to the publication, the affordable devices the search giant is about to release will be called Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The former will sport a 5.6-inch OLED display screen with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and on the inside, it’s claimed to have a Snapdragon 670 chipset allied to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, a 12MP main camera and 8MP selfie shooter, and a 3000mAh battery.

Not much is known about the specs of the Pixel 3a XL, but the publication points to a 6-inch OLED panel possibly with a similar 1080p resolution, just like it had been rumored before. Knowing Google, it’s likely that the camera and memory configurations on the smaller model will make their way to the XL, but some reports point to a superior Snapdragon 710 chipset.

Apparently, the fact that they are Google Pixel phones also means that the midrange duo will borrow a lot from its premium counterparts. We are talking things like squeezable edges, eSIM, USB-C, Titan M security chip, and so on. Previously leaked images have shown the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL will be sold in Clearly White and Just Black color variants, although a third paint job might also be in plans. However, it’s still unclear when exactly Google wants to have them on the market and for how much, but these details should surface sooner or later.
