On paper, the Nokia 9 PureView is for most people the best photography smartphone the market has to offer at the moment thanks to the Penta-lens camera array that combines expertise from photography gurus in Light and ZEISS optics. But we all know specs don’t usually determine how good or bad a smartphone camera is.
In case you didn’t know, software, more specifically the camera app, plays a huge role in how good or bad the photos your phone takes are. While many would expect the Nokia 9 and its unmatched hardware to deliver the best photography experience, it appears that this isn’t the case.
Early adopters of the Nokia 9 have been experiencing frustratingly painful issues with the camera app. The app, in some cases, is very slow to open and when it finally opens, the issues continue. Switching between the several shooting modes available is frustrating some people and when worse comes to worst, the app simply crashes and freezes.
Well, guess what? HMD Global has already picked up these issues and is working on a software update to fix the camera issues on the Nokia 9. This is according to Juho Sarvikas, who notes that the camera crashes are caused by drops in voltage when the battery is low.
Some users have also reported that the in-display fingerprint scanner on the Nokia 9 is buggy. Sarvikas is quick to remind you that the device has face unlock for authentication purposes as well, but optimizations for the fingerprint scanner are coming soon, too.
