Huawei unveils new Ascend Y540 budget Android smartphone

Huawei Ascend Y540 Huawei has silently released a new Android smartphone, as a part of its Ascend line-up. Currently on sale in select European countries like Netherlands and Italty, the new Huawei Ascend Y540 is a budget smartphone and carries a price-tag around 95 euros (INR 6,685).


The smartphone features a 4.5-inch WVGA display, 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and dual-SIM support. In addition, Huawei has included 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front shooter, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 3G support.


Among other specifications, the Ascend Y540 comes with Android 4.4.2, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 1730 mAh battery.


There is no word on the release of the Y540 in other markets at this point, but we don’t see why Huawei won’t launch it in other markets. [Source: MediaWorld]


Huawei teases MWC announcements


In related news, Huawei has begun teasing its Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 announcements on social media. The teasers don’t include any details apart from the 4G LTE icon on the top, suggesting the upcoming smartphone/ tablet line-up will support 4G LTE connectivity.


No other information is available at this point, but with MWC 2015 less than ten days away, we will get all the official details soon enough.
