Mobile World Congress 2015 The Mobile World Congress 2015 might officially begin on March 2, but the first official announcements will start to appear later today. As we get ready for the flood-gates to open, here is a quick look at the what you can expect from MWC 2015, related to Google and Android.

Smartphones

Given the name Mobile World Congress, the whole event is normally dominated by the mobiles and mobile technology and this year is not going to be any different. With smartphones being the most visible mobile technology right now, expect the unveiling of a number of new Android phones in the next few days.

Some of the key smartphones are coming from Samsung, HTC, and Lenovo. Samsung will introduce Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, HTC will showcase One M9, and Lenovo will introduce as many as six new phones.

Tablets

From what leaks and rumours have revealed, we don’t expect to see many tablets at the event, however Sony will announce its brand new Xperia Z4 Tablet. Huawei, Acer and Asus are also likely to showcase some mid-range and entry-level slates, but on the flagship front, there will only be Sony.

Wearables

Like smartphones, wearables are also going to be big at this year’s Mobile World Congress. Huawei, HTC, and LG are going to showcase their new smartwatches and smartbands at the event. LG has already introduced the Watch Urbane and Watch Urbane LTE, but more details will be revealed this week. HTC is rumoured to announce its first wearable device and Huawei will announce the new Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch along with new smartbands.

Other announcements

Among other announcements, Google’s Sundar Pichai is speaking at the MWC and we can expect a few Android-related announcements including the official unveiling on Android 5.1.

Apart from all the above details that we already know, there will be plenty of surprises too.
