Motorola has now started rolling out a new software update to its Moto Z handsets in Hong Kong and Indonesia. The update installs the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS on the handset alongside Duo — Google’s video calling app.

In addition, it also installs the latest Android security patch (July) which should improve the overall security of the handset by removing vulnerabilities, if any.

The company has just started pushing the update which means it could take some time for all the handsets to receive it. If you are not among the ones to play the waiting game go to Settings > About phone > Software updates to check for the update manually.

Before downloading the update, however, switch to a stable Wi-Fi network to avoid unnecessary data charges. Also, make sure to have a back up handy for you never now if things go south during the installation process.

It’s also advisable to charge your handset before installing the update. Anything close to 50% or more should be good enough.
