Last month, T-Mobile rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, two months after AT&T.

Now, T-Mobile is rolling out July security patch for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. As is the case with all OTA updates, the update takes some time and will reach your device soon.

Your device should be on the latest build to receive the update. While Samsung Galaxy S6 was on build number G920TUVU5FQE1, the current update changes it to G920TUVS5FQG1. Similarly, the update arrives as build number G925TUVS5FQG1 for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, while the previous version was G925TUVU5FQE1.

As is the case with any security patch, the update takes care of various security vulnerabilities and brings along fixes to existing bugs. You can also expect performance and stability improvements from the update.

If you haven’t received the update yet, you can check for it manually via the device settings. Go to Settings – About – Software updates.

It is advisable to connect to a good Wi-Fi network before downloading the update and keep your handset charged as high as 50 percent.
