There seems to be a transition in the stagnation witnessed by the smartphone market. And it’s not only the renowned OEMs like Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, HTC and the likes who are striving to launch devices with something unique in them, but even first time players like Red are bringing new things to the table. Having built an established name in the high-end professional camera market, Red has entered into the domain of smartphone manufacturing with Hydrogen One.

What sets Red’s first Android phone Hydrogen One apart from the rest of crowd is the device’s 5.7-inch holographic display. Red boasts of enabling users to experience ‘look around depth’ with Hydrogen One’s holographic display. Thus, the company claims that users will no longer feel necessary to carry (or charge) another device to enjoy multi-dimensional content. The device features “nanotechnology that seamlessly switches between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content and interactive games.”

The Hydrogen One is also modular which will enable users to shoot high quality video and images by allowing for future attachments. The plus point here lies in the fact that the phone will work with Red’s cameras like Scarlet, EPIC, and Weapon.

The company has not specified the detailed specsheet. All that is known as of now is the that the phone will have a USB-C port, headphone jack, and an expandable microSD card slot.

The price of Hydrogen One has been fixed at $1195 for the Aluminium model while the Titanium variant will cost $1595. However, the current pricing is for limited time only. As an additional benefit, customers placing the early orders will be given a “special small token.” Red will start the shipping only in Q1 2018.
