Xiaomi Redmi 4’s successor, the Redmi 5 could get a serious spec bump, if this new leak that has surfaced on Weibo today.
As most of you already know, the recently launched Redmi 4 houses a Snapdragon 435 chipset. The Redmi 5, however, could get a Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 630 chipset according to the latest leak.
The battery size, on the other hand, has slightly been reduced to 3,680mAh in comparison to the 4,100mAh battery on its predecessor. The good news is, it will support Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Change in the battery capacity could possibly due to the change in design which is clear from the above image. It looks like the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will have a flat design with the curved sides gone.
We are not sure if this will be the final design but it does look better than the Redmi 4’s design.
Most of the other specs remain same, though. For instance, it will still have the same 5-inch HD display, 3GB/4GB of RAM (eMMC 5.1 LPDDR3), 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of ROM. And, the fingerprint scanner will remain on the back itself as well.
Also, it will ship with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.
