Barely a week after Android 8.0 Oreo started rolling out to the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the company has reportedly halted the update.
According to a statement by SamMobile, the Korean tech giant has stopped sending out Oreo OTA updates to the S8 as well as removed the firmware from its official download servers. Although Samsung hasn’t given any reason for doing this, the Samsung-centric website claims there’s a new firmware in the works and will be released sooner than later.
Many Galaxy S8 fans were relieved that Samsung was finally rolling out the update after nearly half a year since the OS was made official by Google. However, it seems this prolonged period was still not enough for Samsung to make things perfect.
This is something we noticed as well and subsequently updated our database with working Galaxy S8 and S8+ Oreo firmware files.
It’s funny that the initial Galaxy S8 Oreo update had firmware version G950FXXU1CRAP. As it turns out, the update was indeed CRAP, just like the build number. On the brighter side, those who had already received the Oreo treat on their S8 handsets can still enjoy it without any major issues.
