A couple of days ago, Google started rolling out Android 9 Pie update to the Pixel and Pixel 2 handsets and on the same day, Essential announced that users of the PH-1 can also download and install Pie on their handsets. According to the latest reports from India, it appears that the Nokia 7 Plus has just started receiving the same update, too.
Although HMD Global hasn’t confirmed this, it’s not strange to see the Nokia 7 Plus joining the Pie party soon after the OS went live. The device, alongside the Essential Phone and several others, did take part in the beta testing program, meaning that Nokia had a stable build at about the same time as Google.

Apparently, the Android Pie update on the Nokia 7 Plus weighs close to 1.2GB and among the highlights are adaptive battery and brightness, simpler ways of navigation and recommended apps and actions based on the current context, among others.
Being an OTA update, it may take time before all Nokia 7 Plus get the download notification. Also, it’s still unclear if the initial rollout is targeting those who were in the beta program, but from the size of the update, it doesn’t seem so.
