Huawei released the P20, P20 Pro, and P20 Lite several months ago and the next-in-line flagship device is the Mate 20, which is expected to be accompanied by a Pro and Lite variant. Earlier this month, we bumped into the rumored specs of the Mate 20 highlighted in the link below, but in this post, we have all the details you’d want to know about the entry-level variant in the series – the Huawei Mate 20 Lite.

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite, as you may know, will be the entry-level model in the premium Mate 20 series. It has been mooted before that it will resemble the already unveiled Huawei Nova 3i, both in terms of specs, features and even the design language.

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is codenamed Sydney and according to a recent discovery by folks at XDA Developers, the device will have model numbers SNE-AL00SNE-AL00BSNE-LX1SNE-LX2SNE-LX3, and SNE-TL00. Now, in the latest developments captured by German publication WinFuture, the Mate 20 Lite will indeed have similarities with the Nova 3i. Leaked images of the alleged Mate 20 Lite can confirm that Huawei is sticking with the notch as seen in the P20 series, but this time it’s even larger thanks to the fact that there are two cameras on it.

However, unlike the Nova 3i whose main camera setup is in the top left corner, the Mate 20 Lite will have the cameras vertically set up in the middle of the back panel, much like on the Mate 10. Right below the cameras will be a fingerprint scanner, but the device should also include support for face unlock via the front camera.

On the software front, the Mate 20 Lite will once again disappoint like its predecessor. The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro came preinstalled with Oreo out of the box, but the Mate 10 Lite got Android Nougat. Well, the same seems set to repeat with the Mate 20 series, where the Lite version will come preinstalled with Oreo while the superior models will reportedly come with Android Pie out of the box.

As we have gotten used to see on Huawei midrangers, the Mate 20 Lite will be made of glass on either side with a metallic frame joining them. The report further mentions that the device will be sold in Black and Gold color variants.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite price and release date

Huawei Mate 20 Lite is said to be coming this August and will be priced at about €400 in Europe. We still don’t have an exact date just yet, but if this release date does materialize, it will be over a month earlier than the Mate 10 Lite’s launch, which took place in October 2017 and the device started selling the following month.

Of course, we know the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are also being eagerly waited for, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be launched alongside the Mate 20 Lite. If anything, we can expect them somewhere in September or October, just like last year.
