Moto Z3 and Z3 Play Pie update
Motorola announced the Moto Z3 Play ahead of the Moto Z3, but both phones have Android Oreo out of the box. Given they are the new game in town, Motorola’s Android Pie update will target the duo before moving onto the 2017 pair of Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play.

Typically, the Pie update should be available for Moto Z3 uses ahead of the Moto Z3 Play, but going by the latest developments, it appears the latter will get the stable version ahead of the former. This is because a report surfacing from China claims Motorola is already trialing Android Pie beta on the Moto Z3 Play with an aim of spreading this love to the global variant in the near future.
With this, the Moto Z3 Play should be in line to receive the stable version somewhere in early or mid-Q4 2018. If anything, the Moto Z3 Android Pie update should follow soon after, most probably before the end of the year.
