Both Samsung and Huawei started rolling out the stable Android 9 Pie updates to their flagship phones before the end of last year.
Huawei P20 and P20 Pro got the nod ahead of the Galaxy S9, S9+ and Note 9, the latter joining the party early this year. However, no carrier has released Android Pie update to these handsets both in the U.S. and Canada.
We don’t know when the updates will start rolling out in the U.S., but for those in Canada, more specifically users of Fido carrier, we have details of when to expect Pie to arrive on your S9, Note 9 or P20 handset as provided by the carrier.
The carrier hopes a staged rollout will be ready for the P20 on February 15th followed by the Pro variant on February 18th. As for the three Samsung phones, the update is “coming soon”, which could mean anything from a few days to weeks.
It isn’t an unusual thing for carriers to take longer with Android OS upgrades. With Pie having started rolling out to unlocked S9 and S9+ models around last Christmas, it’s safe to assume that carriers should begin pushing the update later this month or in February 2019.
Until then, you can get familiar with what’s new in One UI as well as other Samsung and Huawei devices that will be receiving this new Android flavor via the links below.
