Android 9 Pie beta is already available for users of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in select markets, but for those in Canada, you’ll have to make do with the latest Android security patch for now, at least until One UI arrives in March 2019.
The new update is rolling out over the air to the 2017 duo bearing build number BSA1 and besides the January 2019 security patch, owners of the S8 and S8 Plus can look forward to receiving bug fixes and optimizations to the aging software.
Note that OTA updates usually take time to reach all units, so don’t freak out if your friend receives the download notification ahead of you.
If the OTA hasn’t arrived by now, you may want to force it via the Settings > Software update menu. Alternatively, simply sit back and wait for the auto-arrival of the download notification in the next few days.
Samsung will unveil the second successor to the S8 next month ahead of the MWC 2019, so be sure to tune in to our coverage of the launch event. Meanwhile, check out details of the phones in the pipes via the links below.
