It was only a few days ago that a report emerged suggesting that a RAZAR flip-phone from Motorola based on foldable display is under the preparation.
Now, we’re hearing that Motorola could be prepping another foldable phone, that should the company go toe-to-toe with the likes of Samsung, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc. who also harbor a plan to launch their foldable smartphones in 2019.
Folks at LetsGoDigital have discovered patents related to a Motorola device, that folds out to form a tablet and fold into a phone. The patents were released on January 10, 2019, and were filed with both USPTO and WIPO in mid-2017.

The patent describes the product as “Deformable electronic with methods and systems for controlling the deformed user interface”. What this basically means is that the device once folded can be operated on one screen and the output will be shown on the other. This sounds pretty intriguing, no?
The intriguing feature doesn’t end here. The device also enables the users to scroll on the back screen with an index finger, resulting in the movement and scaling of the contents on the front screen.
The device is said to have the ability to recognize pinch, pull, swipe, drag and press movements to perform various functions. Moreover, the contents can be moved in between the two screens as well. In addition, there are two cameras deft enough to recognize the face as well as the eyes of users.
The report doesn’t shed any light on Motorola’s plan with regard to the patented device. We know from our experience that numerous patents don’t get translated into actual commercial products. However, we would be glad if Motorola doesn’t allow this patent to go waste. Let’s wait and watch what happens in the future.
