Huawei Nova 3E update: Latest update adds June 2018 patch, Nova 3E watermark to photos, auto-adjusts temperature during charging, and more

Huawei has this habit of releasing the same phone with different names in various markets across the globe. For instance, the phone that many know as the Huawei P20 Lite is also known to those in Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, China and a few other markets as the Huawei Nova 3E.

In fact, Malaysia has seen just about every other Huawei Nova device, a family of phones that started out in 2016 apparently following the failed deal between Google and Huawei with respect to the OG Pixel phones.

Huawei Nova 3E Android P update

Expected release date: Q4 2018

Huawei Nova 3E was launched in March 2018 but at the time, it was only confirmed for the Chinese market. While the phone has since been launched in UAE and Malaysia, we are not sure how many other markets out there are also using the Nova 3E and not the P20 Lite.

Names aside, we know the Huawei Nova 3E came preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo and like any other midranger, it is guaranteed at least one major OS upgrade in the shape of Android P. Despite how good Huawei has become with respect to major OS upgrades, there’s still no room for any of the company’s phones in the ongoing Android P beta, even the tri-lens variant, the P20 Pro.

Even so, we still expect to see the Huawei Nova 3E getting an update to Android P before the end of this year, somewhere in Q4, because…Google Project Treble.
