Huawei P20 update: All three variants receiving June 2018 patches and multiple under-the-hood improvements

Huawei P20, P20 Pro and P20 Lite were announced in March this year, but of course, none from the trio will be available in the U.S. this time around, at least via official channels. Despite this, the Huawei P20 series is still a very popular family of handsets in other parts of the world. It is these markets that we are looking to cater for with this Huawei P20 update post, where you’ll find all that you need to know in regards to the trio’s software update news.

Huawei P20 Android P update

Expected release date: Q3 2018

Given that the Huawei P20 series launched with Android Oreo out of the box, all three have a guaranteed spot on the company’s Android P update plans. However, while we expected that by this time at least the Pro version will have gained a spot in Google’s Android P beta program, it seems this won’t be happening.

Whether this move will have a significant impact on when the Huawei P20 series gets the stable version of P is still unclear, but we hope even if it does, we won’t have to wait until the end of Q4 to get the update. Looking at what happened with Android Oreo, however, it’s possible that the P20 series will get Android P in late Q3 or early Q4, beginning with the Pro variant.
